Malir is the largest district in Karachi by area and the most heterogeneous neighbourhood we service. A single Malir job route can take a technician from a 1980s bungalow in Malir Cantonment with original Shisham joinery, to a four-storey apartment block in Saudabad, to a low-density plot in Model Colony backing onto the Malir River basin, to a commercial frontage on Sharah-e-Faisal at Malir Halt. The pest profile shifts at each of those stops, and the elevated water table that runs under most of the district — a legacy of the Malir River alluvial plain and the agricultural fringe stretching toward Memon Goth — sits underneath all of it. The result is a neighbourhood where termite pressure in older Cantonment stock, Aedes aegypti [1] and Anopheles stephensi breeding from the agricultural-fringe and post-monsoon water, and Rattus rattus leakage along the Sharah-e-Faisal commercial corridor all run in parallel. We at Nest Fumigation Services run a Malir-specific protocol that accounts for this. This page documents it.
Pest profile of Malir
The Malir jobs we have logged since 2024 do not cluster into the single profile we see in tighter neighbourhoods like Bahadurabad or PECHS. They cluster into three sub-profiles that map onto the district's geography, and choosing which protocol to run depends on the address.
The first sub-profile is the older Cantonment and Saudabad bungalow profile. These are detached houses, often built in the 1970s and 1980s, with original wooden joinery — Shisham door frames, teak skirting, deodar roof beams — and concrete-slab plinths that have settled enough to crack the moisture barrier where one was installed at all. Termite calls dominate. Heterotermes indicola is the species we encounter most often, with Coptotermes heimi appearing where the colony has reached an older roof timber. Swarming in March and April produces a brief but sharp spike in calls.
The second sub-profile is the agricultural-fringe profile. Properties at the eastern and northern edges of Malir — Model Colony backing onto open land, parts of Quaidabad adjoining the cantonment perimeter, and older sections of Shah Faisal Town near the cantonment boundary — sit close enough to standing-water breeding sites that the mosquito calendar runs longer and louder than the city average. Aedes aegypti (the day-biting dengue vector) breeds in clean water containers; Anopheles stephensi (the urban malaria vector) breeds in choked drains and irrigation residue at the fringe; Culex quinquefasciatus (the southern house mosquito) breeds in organically polluted standing water along the back lanes. Post-monsoon stagnation from August through October produces our highest-volume mosquito window in the district.
Nearby service areas: pest control in Bahria Town, our Jauhar pest team, and pest control in DHA.
The third sub-profile is the commercial-corridor profile. The Sharah-e-Faisal frontage at Malir Halt, the commercial strip running into Shah Faisal Town, and the karyana and food-handling units lining the inner Saudabad and Quaidabad markets carry the rodent pressure. Rattus rattus moves along the commercial drainage line into adjoining residential plots; Mus musculus shows up in karyana storage; Rattus norvegicus is less frequent here than in Bahadurabad but appears at the larger food-handling units along Sharah-e-Faisal.
The city-wide picture is mapped on our pest control Karachi hub. The Malir protocol below is what we run on the ground.
Termite control in older Saudabad and Cantonment bungalows
Termite calls in older Malir Cantonment and Saudabad stock are the highest-value work we do in the district. The combination of original wooden joinery, settled concrete plinths with compromised or missing soil barriers, and the elevated water table from the Malir River basin produces ideal Heterotermes indicola conditions. When Coptotermes heimi shows up it is usually because an older job was not detected early enough and the colony has reached an upper-floor roof timber.
Our standard post-construction termite protocol runs soil injection along the inside foundation at the plinth, with fipronil [2] 5SC at a 1:80 dilution applied at 5 litres per linear metre. We drill the plinth at 30-centimetre intervals using a 12-millimetre masonry bit, inject under pressure, and seal the drill points with matching cementitious filler. For affected wooden joinery we add a localised injection around the timber at higher concentration. The treatment carries a 12-month warranty.
For older Cantonment bungalows where the soil barrier has failed across multiple zones — common when we open up termite damage on door frames and skirting — we recommend a phased treatment: affected zone in month one, adjoining zones in month two and three. This is more cost-effective than a single full-house treatment for a 4,000-plus square foot bungalow and produces better penetration than racing through 60-plus drill points in one visit. Full chemistry and warranty detail is on our termite control page.
For pre-construction termite protection on a new build in Malir we run a slab-and-pre-flooring soil barrier with the same fipronil active at 5 litres per square metre across the footprint. Pre-construction is the highest-leverage termite intervention in Malir because of the water table; properties treated pre-construction have a 10-plus year service life on the barrier where post-construction runs 5–7 years between renewals.
Mosquito control in the agricultural fringe and post-monsoon
Malir's mosquito pressure is the most demanding profile we treat in Karachi. The district sits adjacent to enough open land, fringe agricultural activity, and water-table-fed standing water that the breeding-site density is genuinely higher than in DHA or Clifton. The three species producing our call volume each break differently against treatment.
Aedes aegypti breeds in clean standing water — rooftop tanks with missing or unsealed lids, plant saucers in the courtyards of older bungalows, AC condensate drip pans, the small abandoned containers that accumulate around plots backing onto open land. The monsoon and post-monsoon window from July through October is the dengue-relevant ramp. Anopheles stephensi breeds in similar clean-water sites but is more associated with rooftop and overhead tanks; it is the urban malaria vector and the species we are most concerned about on the agricultural fringe of Quaidabad and Model Colony. Culex quinquefasciatus breeds in organically polluted standing water — choked open drains along the inner Malir lanes, unsealed soakaways behind older bungalows, slow-drainage corners of the wet bazaars.
Our standard mosquito visit runs two operations. First, larvicide application at breeding sites — temephos at 50 grams per 10 cubic metres of standing water in choked drains, and pyriproxyfen as an IGR on rooftop and overhead tanks where water-supply contact is a concern. Second, adulticidal ULV fogging at the property perimeter and back-lane drainage line at dusk, using deltamethrin 2.5 EC at a 1:40 dilution or bifenthrin at 1:50 depending on the resistance pattern in the vicinity. The fog hits airborne adults; the larvicide breaks the next-generation cycle so the call does not recur in three weeks.
For AMC customers in Malir we schedule a monsoon-prep visit in April or May and a post-monsoon clearance visit in October or November. Pre-monsoon scheduling produces noticeably better outcomes than in DHA or Clifton because the underlying breeding-site density is higher; treating reactively in August leaves three to four weeks of nuisance before the larvicide cycle catches up. Full chemistry and timing detail is on our mosquito control page.
Rodent ingress along Sharah-e-Faisal and commercial side lanes
The Sharah-e-Faisal frontage at Malir Halt and the commercial side lanes into Shah Faisal Town and Quaidabad carry the bulk of the district's rodent pressure. Rattus rattus moves along the commercial drainage line and the rear of the shop frontage; Mus musculus shows up in karyana storage and adjoining household pantries. A residential rodent job that does not account for the commercial source will see the rats return within four to six weeks.
Our standard residential rodent protocol runs three layers. The outer layer is the property perimeter — tamper-resistant bait stations at the boundary wall on a six-metre interval, weighted and secured against displacement, with brodifacoum [3] at 0.005% in a paraffin-block formulation. The middle layer is snap-trap placement inside storage closets, kitchen pantries, the back of any servant quarter, and either side of any pipe penetration. The inner layer is entry-point sealing — gaps around gas-line and AC-pipe penetrations, the wall-floor junction behind kitchen cabinetry, and any visible burrow at the boundary.
For commercial bookings on Sharah-e-Faisal we add a fourth layer: bromadiolone [3] bait blocks at the rear of the unit on a tighter four-metre interval, snap traps at the wall-floor junction in the dry-store, and entry-point sealing around the grease-trap access and service-line penetrations. Anticoagulant bait is not deployed in active food-handling areas; the snap-trap line carries the kill inside the back-of-house. Full dosing detail is on our rat killer Pakistan 2026 page.
Seasonal pest cycle in Malir
Malir's pest cycle is dominated by the monsoon and post-monsoon mosquito ramp, and modified at the edges by the termite swarming spike in March and April and by the year-round rodent pressure along the commercial corridor. Cockroach pressure runs steady through the year with a shallow dip in January and February.
| Month | Termite | Mosquito | Rodent | Cockroach |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | low | low | medium | low–medium |
| February | low | low | medium | low–medium |
| March | swarming risk | low | medium | medium |
| April | swarming peak | rising | medium | medium |
| May | active | high | medium | medium–high |
| June | active | high | medium | high |
| July | active | peak (monsoon) | medium–high | high |
| August | active | peak (monsoon) | medium–high | high |
| September | active | peak (post-monsoon) | high | high |
| October | active | peak (post-monsoon) | high | medium–high |
| November | low | medium | medium | medium |
| December | low | low | medium | low–medium |
The practical scheduling read for residential Malir is that any AMC should weight visits toward May–October for the mosquito ramp and reserve March–April for a termite inspection visit; the residential rodent cadence sits underneath the seasonal layer and runs quarterly. Commercial customers on the Sharah-e-Faisal corridor should hold a monthly rodent cadence year-round with cockroach and mosquito components scheduled seasonally on top.
Service areas and turnaround
We service the full Malir district from our DHA Phase 4 office. Drive time to Malir Halt is 25 to 35 minutes via Sharah-e-Faisal depending on the airport-direction traffic; Saudabad and Model Colony are 30 to 40 minutes; the Cantonment access depends on which gate is open on the day. We accept bookings across:
- Saudabad and the residential lanes off Saudabad Main Road
- Model Colony and the plots backing onto open land
- Quaidabad and the inner market lanes
- Malir Halt and the Sharah-e-Faisal frontage
- Malir Cantonment (subject to gate access on the day)
- Shah Faisal Town adjoining Malir
- The agricultural-fringe properties at Memon Goth approach
- Boundary blocks toward Korangi and Landhi
Standard turnaround for a one-off booking is 24 to 72 hours. AMC customers on the Malir route are scheduled into a fixed cadence — typically Wednesday or Saturday for residential — and receive same-day callback for emergencies between visits. There is no travel surcharge on any Malir address; the journey time is built into the standard rate. Compared to our DHA service area, the Malir route involves more drive time but the per-visit rate is identical.
Comparison — Cantonment and older areas vs newer apartment blocks
The protocol changes meaningfully between an older Cantonment or Saudabad bungalow and a newer apartment block in inner Malir or Shah Faisal Town. The table below summarises where the chemistry, cadence, and warranty differ.
| Element | Older Cantonment / Saudabad bungalow | Newer apartment block |
|---|---|---|
| Primary pest target | Termite first, mosquito second, rodent third | Cockroach first, mosquito second, rodent third |
| Termite likelihood at first inspection | High (60–80% of jobs find activity) | Low (under 15% of jobs find activity) |
| Termite chemistry | Fipronil 5SC at 1:80, soil injection at 5 L/linear metre, plus localised joinery injection | Fipronil 5SC at 1:80, perimeter only if pre-construction record absent |
| Termite warranty | 12 months post-construction, 10+ years pre-construction | 12 months standard |
| Mosquito treatment | Perimeter ULV with deltamethrin 2.5 EC + larvicide on overhead tanks | Perimeter ULV at building footprint + tank larvicide where access granted |
| Rodent chemistry | Brodifacoum bait stations at boundary + snap traps in storage | Brodifacoum at building boundary + snap traps in flat storage |
| Cockroach chemistry | Indoxacarb gel-bait at kitchen and bathroom drains + perimeter fipronil 5SC | Indoxacarb gel-bait at drain access + fipronil 5SC perimeter |
| Visit cadence (AMC) | Quarterly, with March–April termite inspection and May–October mosquito weighting | Quarterly, weighted to May–October |
| Typical first-visit duration | 3–5 hours | 1.5–2.5 hours |
| Typical AMC discount | 25% off à la carte | 25% off à la carte |
The protocol differences are structural, not cosmetic. Booking the wrong package — an apartment package for a Cantonment bungalow with active termite, or a bungalow package for a one-bedroom flat in inner Saudabad — does not produce the right outcome.
Pre-treatment checklist for Malir bookings
A clean first visit goes faster and produces a better record when these items are ready. This is the same checklist we walk customers through on the booking call.
- Confirm the property type — Cantonment bungalow, Saudabad or Quaidabad house, newer apartment block, or commercial frontage — because the protocol and the chemistry rotation depend on it.
- For older bungalows, note any visible wooden joinery damage, mud tubes on the plinth, or hollow-sounding skirting; photograph if possible and send on WhatsApp before the visit so we arrive with the right drill bit count and dilution volume.
- Confirm whether the property has had any previous termite treatment and approximately when; if a soil barrier was installed pre-construction we will check the warranty status and treat differently.
- Identify the overhead and rooftop tanks and whether we will have access; for monsoon-prep visits the tank larvicide round is a meaningful component of the outcome.
- For agricultural-fringe properties, note any standing water on adjacent plots or open ground; we may recommend a perimeter ULV pattern that covers the property boundary rather than only the building footprint.
- For commercial bookings, confirm the back-of-house square footage and the closure window; the spray component of the first visit needs a four-hour clear-of-staff window before re-entry.
- Decide on the AMC cadence at booking — quarterly residential is the default for Malir, monthly commercial is the default for Sharah-e-Faisal frontage — so we can quote the AMC rate at the same first visit.
- Have a single household or business contact ready who will accept the technician on arrival and counter-sign the treatment record at the end of the visit.
Pricing for Malir customers
Malir is priced at the same PKR rates we charge across DHA, Clifton, Gulshan and PECHS. There is no Malir postcode adjustment and there is no agricultural-fringe surcharge. Typical residential ranges:
- General fumigation (single visit, all common pests): PKR 3,500–6,500 for a 1-bed flat, PKR 5,500–11,000 for a 2–3 bed home, PKR 9,000–18,000 for a Cantonment bungalow.
- Cockroach gel-bait treatment (single visit, no spray): PKR 3,000–5,500 for a 1-bed flat, PKR 4,500–9,000 for a 2–3 bed home.
- Rodent control (bait-station programme plus entry-point sealing): PKR 4,000–7,500 for a 1-bed flat, PKR 6,500–13,000 for a 2–3 bed home, PKR 11,000–22,000 for a Cantonment bungalow.
- Mosquito ULV fogging plus larvicide: PKR 3,500–6,500 for a 1-bed flat, PKR 5,500–10,000 for a 2–3 bed home, PKR 8,500–16,000 for a Cantonment bungalow. AMC monsoon-prep packages discount this 25–40%.
- Termite post-construction (per affected zone, includes 12-month warranty): PKR 8,000–15,000 for a 1-bed flat, PKR 14,000–28,000 for a 2–3 bed home, PKR 22,000–55,000 for a full Cantonment bungalow.
- Termite pre-construction (slab-and-pre-flooring soil barrier, 10-year service life): PKR 35,000–110,000 depending on footprint.
Commercial pricing on the Sharah-e-Faisal frontage and the inner Malir markets is quoted per visit plus per square foot of treated area; a typical small-to-mid food-handling unit on a monthly IPM programme runs PKR 10,000 to PKR 24,000 per monthly visit depending on kitchen size and access points. AMC discounts per-visit cost by 25–40% on à la carte pricing. Full pricing methodology is on our Karachi 2026 pricing page.
Our credentials and process
Nest Fumigation Services Private Limited operates from Plot #14, 2/1 2nd Gizri Street, DHA Phase 4, Karachi 75500. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems certification and is a member of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), the Structural Pest Management Association (SPMA), and the Pakistan Pest Management Association (PPMA). Our Google Business Profile carries 175 verified reviews at a 4.9-star average rating as of June 2026.
On a standard Malir booking we capture the address, the property type, the apparent pest or service requested, and a preferred visit window. For a Cantonment bungalow we also capture the approximate age of the property and any history of previous termite work. The visit is scheduled within 24 to 72 hours for a one-off, or into the AMC route for an existing maintenance customer. The technician arrives with chemistry pre-mixed, identifies and documents the activity, applies the treatment, and issues a written treatment record on site. For commercial customers the record is formatted as a Sindh Food Authority [4] compatible IPM document. Saad Danish, the founder, counter-signs commercial records and termite warranty certificates — more on his background is on Saad's bio page. We do not subcontract Malir work; every visit is from a directly-employed NFS technician.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take NFS to reach Malir from DHA Phase 4?+
Drive time from our DHA Phase 4 office to Malir Halt is 25 to 35 minutes via Sharah-e-Faisal, depending on the airport-direction traffic. Saudabad and Model Colony are 30 to 40 minutes. Malir Cantonment access depends on which gate is open on the day and we coordinate the gate pass with the customer before the visit. There is no travel surcharge on any Malir address; the journey time is built into the standard rate, and the rate itself is identical to what we charge in DHA, Clifton, Gulshan and PECHS.
Why are termite problems so common in older Malir Cantonment bungalows?+
Three reasons converge. First, the original wooden joinery — Shisham door frames, teak skirting, deodar roof beams — in 1970s and 1980s Cantonment stock is exactly what Heterotermes indicola and Coptotermes heimi prefer to colonise. Second, the elevated water table from the Malir River basin keeps soil moisture high enough that subterranean colonies thrive. Third, the soil barriers installed pre-construction in that era have either failed or were never installed at the standard we use today. Our protocol drills the plinth and re-establishes a fipronil 5SC barrier with a 12-month warranty.
Is the mosquito problem worse in Malir than in DHA?+
Yes, measurably. Malir sits closer to open land, agricultural-fringe activity, and water-table-fed standing water than the DHA service area. The breeding-site density for Aedes aegypti, Anopheles stephensi and Culex quinquefasciatus runs higher than the city average. Our mosquito-prep visit in April or May is more important in Malir than elsewhere in Karachi; treating reactively in August once dengue calls have started leaves three to four weeks of nuisance before the larvicide cycle catches up. AMC customers in Malir typically schedule a second clearance visit in October or November.
Do you treat plots backing onto open agricultural land at the eastern edge of Malir?+
Yes. Properties at the Memon Goth approach, the open-land boundary in Model Colony, and the agricultural-fringe edge of Quaidabad receive a modified perimeter ULV pattern that covers the property boundary rather than only the building footprint. We also recommend a tighter larvicide schedule for overhead tanks and any standing water on the property itself. The per-visit rate is the same as elsewhere in Malir; the additional perimeter coverage is built into the standard mosquito booking with no surcharge.
What chemistry do you use for rodent control along Sharah-e-Faisal?+
Tamper-resistant exterior bait stations on a six-metre interval (four-metre interval for commercial), with brodifacoum at 0.005% in a paraffin-block formulation for sustained pressure, plus snap traps inside the back-of-house at the wall-floor junction in dry-stores, behind chest freezers, and either side of any pipe penetration into the building. We do not deploy anticoagulant bait inside active food-handling areas; the snap-trap line carries the kill inside the back-of-house. Bromadiolone is rotated in as the first-generation anticoagulant where resistance management requires it. Full dosing detail is on our rat killer Pakistan 2026 page.
Is there a Malir postcode premium on your pricing?+
No. Malir is priced at the same PKR rates we charge in DHA, Clifton, Gulshan and PECHS, with no surcharge for drive time or agricultural-fringe addresses. The full pricing methodology is documented on our Karachi 2026 pricing page. The largest pricing variable in Malir is property size: a 4,000-plus square foot Cantonment bungalow naturally costs more than a 1-bed apartment in Saudabad, but the per-square-foot rate is identical to what we charge elsewhere in the city.
Can you handle Malir Cantonment access?+
Yes. Cantonment access requires a gate pass arranged through the resident; we coordinate the gate, technician name, and vehicle registration with the customer 24 hours before the visit. The Cantonment route does not carry a surcharge. We have run termite and mosquito jobs in the older bungalow stock on the inner Cantonment lanes and on residential plots adjoining the perimeter. Visit windows adjust to Cantonment gate hours where those differ from our standard 09:00–21:00 schedule.
How does the Malir profile compare to the DHA profile?+
The two profiles differ. DHA runs heavier on termite in the older Phase 1–5 villas and lighter on mosquito because of the planned drainage. Malir runs heavier on mosquito because of the water table and the agricultural fringe, comparable on termite in the Cantonment stock, and heavier on commercial-corridor rodent pressure than DHA does on Khayaban-e-Shahbaz. The per-visit rate is identical and the AMC cadence is also identical at quarterly residential, monthly commercial.
