Bed bug treatment in Karachi works when it reaches the places the bugs actually hide and kills the eggs as well as the adults. We do that one of two ways: a two-visit chemical treatment with a non-repellent active, 14 days apart, or heat that raises the room above roughly 50°C. Treatment is priced per room, from PKR 4,500, and carries a 3-month callback warranty.
The bed bug in Karachi homes, hostels and hotels is almost always the tropical bed bug, Cimex hemipterus [1], not the temperate species that most online advice is written about. That difference decides which treatment works. This page covers how to confirm you have bed bugs, why shop sprays fail here, the two treatments we use, what to do before we arrive, pricing and warranty, and how we handle hostels, hotels and apartment buildings. How to confirm it is bed bugs
Bites alone do not prove bed bugs. Mosquito, flea and mite bites can look similar, and some people do not react to bed bug bites at all. Look for the bugs and the marks they leave:
- Live bugs: flat, oval, reddish-brown, about the size of an apple seed in adults, pale and much smaller as nymphs.
- Dark spots: small black or rust-coloured dots along mattress seams and bed-frame joints. These are digested blood.
- Shed skins: pale, empty casings left as nymphs grow.
- Eggs: white, about 1 mm, glued into seams, screw holes and the joints of wooden furniture.
- Bites in a line or cluster: often on arms, neck and legs, appearing overnight.
The first places to check are the mattress seams and piping, the joints and screw holes of the bed frame, the headboard, the gap where the bed meets the wall, sofa seams and cushions, and curtain hems. In a charpai, check the joints where the frame is tied.

Why shop sprays fail on Karachi's bed bug
Most sprays sold in Karachi markets for bed bugs are pyrethroids. They fail here for two reasons we see on almost every job.
First, the tropical bed bug has developed resistance to pyrethroids, so a dose that once killed it now often lets it walk away. Second, pyrethroids are repellent. The bug senses the treated surface and retreats deeper into a joint, a wall gap or the next room, so the infestation spreads while it looks quieter for a few days.
The third problem is the eggs. No contact spray reliably kills eggs glued deep inside a seam. A single visit, however strong, leaves the eggs to hatch a week or two later, which is why a one-spray job so often appears to work and then fails.
The two treatments that work
Two-visit chemical treatment
Where heat is not practical, we use a non-repellent active. Our standard is chlorfenapyr, which the bug's own metabolism turns toxic, so pyrethroid resistance gives it no protection and the bug does not avoid the treated surface. Where a combination product suits the site better, we use deltamethrin with a neonicotinoid partner.
- Visit one: we treat every seam, joint, screw hole and void in the infested rooms, steam mattress seams and furniture joints, and treat skirting gaps and curtain hems.
- Visit two, on day 14: we come back to kill the nymphs that hatched from eggs the first visit could not reach. The 14-day gap is what makes the treatment work.
A treated room is normally clear by around day 28.
Heat treatment
Heat kills adults, nymphs and eggs in a single session, provided a lethal temperature above roughly 50°C reaches the places the bugs are hiding and is held long enough. Because heat goes into joints and seams rather than sitting on surfaces, it suits heavily infested rooms, homes with infants or people sensitive to chemicals, and hotels that need a room back in service quickly. Our heat versus chemical comparison explains how to choose between them, and our heat treatment cost guide covers what drives the price.

What we do on the first visit
- Inspection. We confirm the bugs, map every infested room, and check the rooms on either side, because bed bugs move through wall and pipe gaps.
- Your preparation checked. Bedding and clothing bagged and washed hot, floors cleared around beds and sofas.
- Steam on seams and joints. Steam at around 100°C at the nozzle goes into mattress piping and furniture joints before any chemical is applied.
- Targeted application. The non-repellent active into seams, joints, screw holes, bed frames, skirting gaps and curtain hems, not a blanket spray across the room.
- Re-entry and follow-up. We tell you when it is safe to use the room again and book the day-14 visit before we leave.
What you can do before we arrive
You can make the treatment work better, and you can avoid spreading the infestation:
- Wash bedding, curtains and clothing from infested rooms on the hottest setting the fabric allows, and dry them fully.
- Bag clean items and keep them out of the treated rooms until the second visit.
- Vacuum mattress seams and the floor around the bed, then empty the vacuum outside in a sealed bag.
- Do not move a mattress or sofa to another room. That is the most common way one infested room becomes three.
- Do not spray shop pesticides before we come. It pushes the bugs deeper and makes them harder to reach.
Keeping bed bugs out after treatment
Most re-infestations in Karachi come in from outside rather than surviving the treatment. A few habits keep a treated home clear:
- After travel, unpack luggage away from the bedroom and wash the clothes hot before putting them away.
- Inspect second-hand furniture, especially beds, sofas and charpais, before bringing it inside.
- Check the bed and sofa seams once a month for the dark spots described above. Early signs are far cheaper to treat.
- In apartments, seal gaps around pipes and wiring where they pass through shared walls.
- In hostels and staff housing, keep a simple log of rooms with complaints, so a single room is treated before it spreads.
Cleaning is not a bed bug treatment, and we will not sell it as one. Once the day-14 visit has cleared the room, our mattress cleaning service or sofa cleaning services in Karachi can help lift the dark spotting and stains the infestation left on the fabric.
Bed bug treatment price in Karachi
Bed bug treatment is priced per room, because the work is room by room: every seam of every mattress, every joint of every bed frame and every skirting void in the infested room has to be treated. Prices start from PKR 4,500 per room, with both visits included. The full table by property size, alongside our other services, is on our pest control price list. We confirm the price after the inspection, once we know how many rooms are involved and which treatment suits them.
What changes the price: the number of infested rooms, how much furniture is in them, whether the infestation has reached sofas and wall voids, and whether heat or the two-visit chemical treatment is the better choice.
Warranty
Bed bug treatment carries a 3-month callback warranty. If bed bug activity continues after the two-visit protocol, we come back and re-treat at no charge.
Hostels, hotels and apartment buildings
Bed bugs spread fastest where many people sleep and move in and out: hostels, guest houses, hotels, hospital wards and staff accommodation. In these sites one infested room quickly becomes a building problem, because guests carry the bugs in luggage and the bugs move between rooms through shared walls.
For hotels and hostels we inspect by floor, treat the infested rooms and the rooms around them, and can schedule work around occupancy so rooms come back into service quickly. For hospitals, food sites and other audited premises, bed bug control fits into a documented programme, see our HACCP pest control page.
In an apartment building, treating one flat while the neighbours are infested often fails, because the bugs come back through wall and pipe gaps. When we find signs that an infestation is coming from next door, we tell you before we take the job, so you can decide whether to involve the building management.
For a closer look at the species, see our guide to identifying Cimex hemipterus. In flat blocks, our guide to bed bug treatment in Gulshan-e-Iqbal explains how an infestation moves between flats and why your preparation decides the result.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does bed bug treatment cost in Karachi?+
Bed bug treatment in Karachi starts from PKR 4,500 per room, with both visits of the two-visit treatment included. The final price depends on the number of infested rooms, the furniture in them and whether heat or chemical treatment suits the site. We confirm it after an inspection.
How many visits does bed bug treatment need?+
The chemical treatment needs two visits, 14 days apart. The first kills the active bugs and the second kills the nymphs that hatch from eggs the first visit could not reach. Heat treatment is completed in a single session.
How long does it take to get rid of bed bugs?+
With the two-visit chemical treatment, a treated room is normally clear by around day 28. Heat treatment can clear a room in one session. Activity in the first week after visit one is expected, as eggs keep hatching until the day-14 visit.
Why do bed bug sprays from the market not work?+
Most market sprays are pyrethroids. Karachi's tropical bed bug has developed resistance to them, and pyrethroids are repellent, so the bugs move deeper into joints and walls instead of dying. Sprays also miss eggs, which hatch a week or two later.
Do I need to leave my home during bed bug treatment?+
For the chemical treatment you need to stay out of the treated rooms for a few hours, and we tell you the exact re-entry time on the day. For heat treatment the room is closed while it is heated and you can use it again once it has cooled.
Do you treat hostels and hotels?+
Yes. We inspect by floor, treat infested rooms and the rooms around them, and schedule work around occupancy so rooms return to service quickly. For hotels and hostels we also advise on how to stop guests bringing bed bugs back in.
Book a bed bug inspection
Call or WhatsApp +92-311-1101810, or book an inspection. We are open Monday to Saturday, 09:30 to 20:00. Send a photo of the bug or the dark spots on the mattress seam if you can. It helps us confirm bed bugs before the visit.
Karachi vernacular — what customers actually say
Bed bug calls — khatmal — are reputation-grade in Karachi. Hotels, hostels, and Airbnb stays carry the strongest discretion requirement, and our after-hours protocol with heat treatment above 50°C plus Chlorfenapyr exists because Cimex hemipterus in this city is pyrethroid-resistant.
- khatmal (bed bug)
- almost always tropical Cimex hemipterus in Karachi homes and hotels
- khatmal ka ilaaj (bed bug treatment)
- usually combined heat plus Chlorfenapyr; pyrethroid alone fails
- mattress (mattress)
- standard usage; we mattress-encase after every treatment
- kaatne wale keere (biting insects)
- how customers describe night-time bites before identifying the source
- palang ke andar (inside the bed)
- the harborage location — frame seams, headboard joints, mattress piping
